Menswear Collection Isabel Mastache Martinez studied at the Fashion and Design School of Galicia, Spain, where she lives and works. Referring to the choristers in the Mystère des Voix Bulgares (The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices), the designer evokes separate entities which unite upon the stage in order to recreate the memory of a country. She defines her own collection in this same manner. Isabel combines the ethnic traditions of central Europe, India, and Galicia, which she fuses together according to esoteric kinships. This fusion produces an explosion of colours and shapes, at the same time violent and sensual. The interior is thrown outwards: organs, veins, bones, and muscles are pulled out of the body, and mixed with brightly coloured patterns, with decadent symbols. Isabel chooses her fabrics based upon the allure of their touch. Re-employing old woollen blankets, mohairs, Liberty prints, saris, and original items bought in India, she reassembles these fragments like leftovers belonging to the past, creating a feeling of nostalgia and gentle melancholy that we live with in an unstable present.
